On January 5, 2021 at 19:11, the Northern Province had a Virtual Brotherhood Gathering to celebrate the 110th founding of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. At the peak, we had approximately 225 Brothers on the call from all areas of not only the Province but across the country with international participation from our Brothers in Canada. Brothers who now live-in other parts of the country, took this time to reconnect and check-in on their Province of initiation. Dignitaries that participated were as follows:
- Timothy Woods – Western Province Polemarch
- Byron C. Thornton – North Central Province Polemarch
- Darren Jordan – East Central Province Polemarch
- E. Kennedy Glass, Jr. – 19th Northern Province Polemarch & 110th Elder Watson Diggs Awardee
- Harry G. Franklin – 22nd Northern Province Polemarch
- Desmon R. Daniel – 23rd Northern Province Polemarch
Province Polemarch Kevin D. Kyles called the event to order at 19:11 and Province Chaplain Benjamin Barnes led the group in prayer. The Kappa Hymn was played, and Province Historian Brother Harrison Duke III (Beta Chi 1970/Detroit Alumni) shared a “Moment in Kappa History” with the group. Province Polemarch Kyles then kicked off the “Roll Call by Year of Initiation”. The most senior Brother on the call was Brother Richard L. Smart Jr. (Gamma Nu 1949/Southfield Alumni) and was the initial speaker. The roll call was closed out two hours later by neophyte Brother Donovan L. Brittain (Lansing Alumni 2020). Amazingly when the call ended, we still had over 180 Brothers on the call.
Although this celebration was much different that previous years, it was still very meaningful, full of reverence, fellowship, and good-hearted Kappa fun! Please click the link below to see screenshots of some of the participants.
